I was working on some vocals I’d recorded the other day…  I wanted a smoother transition into the vocals so I was working on that “reverse delay” effect, where you render the waveform, reverse it, apply liberal delay & reverb, render it again, and then reverse it again.  Other producers should know the type of effect I was going for.
Anyway, I was working on this on headphones and then turned the monitors on, at which point the vocal file was still in reversed stage.  Straylight was in the room at this point and, not knowing what the fuck I was doing, heard the reversed vocals and thought it was me singing the words “Can’t get a woman.  Am I supposed to rust?” in some sort of accent.

This is what she heard:

At first I was like “whatever”, but then I played the file back again and this time all I could hear was myself singing “Can’t get a woman!  Am I supposed to ruuust!?”, and I burst out in laughter.  I was laughing until I re-reversed the track and in fact the next day I was walking down the street and trying not to giggle out loud because I was imagining myself screaming the above line.

Ahhh well….perhaps I’m easily amused….
